The Best Follow Through Drill You Can Do

The following drill is going to help you with your follow-through, making sure that you’re getting maximum power and extension of your body.

One of the big differences between recreational and two-level players is where their body finishes through impact.

If we’re looking for maximum power control and efficiency with our golf swings, we would like to see you finish in a position where your hips are forward, your chest is tall and slightly back, and from here, the club over your shoulder.

To work on this:

  1. Use an alignment rod and a red stick for reference’s sake.
  2. In the middle of your stance, you need to have about a grip length outside your lead hip.
  3. With most recreational golfers, what I see is: as the golf club would move through the ball, their hips would stay well back of this green stick here and even sometimes move even further away. That gives off a look where your chest is down and you don’t look powerful.
  4. So now moving on to what the professional would do: they would get to the top the hips would turn in a circle they would then have a transition where there is a bump into the lead side and then the hips would continue to move forward all the way to the point in where the hips are touching this green stick outside the lead foot.
