How To Hit It High Around The Green

In many of my lessons, players will come and they tend to struggle with getting enough height on their golf shots around the green and getting that ball stopping in a short enough amount of time.

I’m going to show you a few ways which can encourage that golf ball to get some extra height when you’re playing these shots around the green.

  1. If you have your golf club in the address position and the clubface is set straight on, you should have a 54-degree wedge.
  2. To get a certain trajectory from your golf ball, turn your face to the right to have a more open position.
  3. Next, change the position of the handle in the address position. If you were to set with the golf club flat on the ground that would most likely produce a stock trajectory with this shot.
  4. Lay the golf club down so that the face turns slightly to the right and the effective loft of the golf club from this angle is increased.
